Jurado: “The design’s novel approach to combining innovative spatial and programmatic strategies for integrating infraestructure, public and commercial space creates a sense of festivity and spectacle to celebrate public life.”

PROYECTOS CONCEPTUALES – PREMIO DE HONOR

Arq. Jorge F. Ramírez Buxeda, AIA

Proyecto: Zabeel Park, Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Jurado: “Unlike many projects that may tackle these problems through a more pragmatic or engineered approach, this daring proposal calls for radical solution to the relevant issue of the reclamation of one of our most vital natural resources. This project engages this problem in an innovative way allowing for the expression of the process and its resultant interesting range of architectural effects.”

PLANIFICACIÓN URBANA – MENCIÓN DE HONOR

Arq. Pedro Cardona Roig, AIA

Proyecto: Plan de desarrollo orientado al transporte colectivo – San Juan – Guaynabo – Bayamón, Puerto Rico

Jurado: “The project perfomed beautifully at a variety of levels: its careful analysis of multiple urban factors, its specificity of relevant analysis, its strong argument for multiple uses, density and pedestrian oriented streescape. We look forward the further definition of its mixed use zoning strategy”

Proyecto: Parque del litoral – Mayagüez 2010 – Mayagüez, Puerto Rico

Jurado: “It is exciting to see the great implementation of a park master plan that integrates disperse areas and programs into an articulate urban work of surfaces, spaces, and structures. It is rare to see a case where the architectural manifestation of the master plan matches the quality and standards”

Proyecto: Hacienda La Esperanza – Manatí, Puerto Rico

Jurado: “A great use of a simple vernacular profile provides consistancy throgh a fragmented plan while still allowing for the autonomy of various programs. The introduction of different fenestrations and skin treatments within the vernacular allows for specifity within the volumes. we look forward to the sitting reiteration through its proven rigor and development of the various wet infrastructural systems is commendable.”

Proyecto: Cacique 2050 – Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico

Jurado: “Un proyecto que define una sinergía alentadora entre prácticas sostenibles, materiales y espacios. Esperamos una postura más matizada con respecto a su presencia en la calle.”

Arq. José Fernando Vázquez Pérez, AIA / Arq. Rafael Castro Montes de Oca, AIA

Proyecto: Galería AirMaster – Puerto Nuevo, San Juan, Puerto Rico

Jurado: “The new architectural elements are wonderfully calibrated to produced a diverse range of interior spaces through the use of technology, color and light. These elements produce a wide range of spatial and organizational constructs which are reinforced by their
atmospheric effects.”

ARQUITECTURA EDIFICADA – MENCIÓN DE HONOR

Arq. Nataniel Fuster, AIA

Proyecto: Natatorio para los juegos centroamericanos y del caribe 2010 – RUM, Mayaguez, Puerto Rico

Jurado: “The project succesfully negotiates many scales through a carefull arrival sequence and a celebration of individual elements against the architectural and event backdrops. We are confident the interior life of the building will be integrated.”

Proyecto: Jardín del desagravio – Hormiguero, Puerto Rico

Jurado: “An exceptional reframing of the given program has allowed the profound transformation of a fringe space and utilitarian access requirement into a layered interstitial experience.”
